Ian Frederick Oshodi: The Rise of Unwind

Ian Frederick Oshodi is the Creative Director of Unwind Group. He is building a business empire, one brick and one dollar at a time. From his college days to today, Ian has shown that ideas can turn into real businesses.
How Ian Frederick Oshodi Started Out
Back in 2007, Ian set up Unwind right after graduating from the University of Ghana, Legon. But even before Unwind, he was already chasing big dreams.
As a student, he co-founded Die7, an events company. With friends, he pulled off exciting shows that grabbed attention. The most memorable? A giant outdoor screening of the 2006 African Cup of Nations. Before TV stations in Ghana secured the rights, Die7 had already partnered with SuperSport to show the games. Students watched the matches on a huge 14×14 screen the first of its kind in Ghana.
Die7 attracted big sponsors like Cowbell, Tigo, and Bic Pen. But schoolwork became overwhelming, and the company slowly faded out.
The Birth of Unwind
After graduation, Ian wanted a job. But after three weeks of searching with no luck, he quit the hunt. He asked himself tough questions: What do I really have to offer?
With a degree in Economics and Theatre Arts, plus his experience as a model, Ian spotted a gap in the industry. Models had no proper database. Agencies scrambled for faces when contracts arrived. So, Ian took action. He called friends, family, and colleagues. Soon, he had 35 models for a photoshoot. That moment birthed Unwind.
At first, he had no money. He walked long distances to deliver the model list to agencies. Things changed when he landed a modeling contract with Tigo, which was shot in Dubai and India. Instead of spending his earnings, he invested everything into Unwind and made it official.
