Agriculture is Mali’s heartbeat, with over 80% of the population relying on it. Maliki saw this as an opportunity, not just to grow crops but to grow opportunities. His goal? To create more jobs for young people in rural areas by 2030 and reduce migration to cities.

Right now, three full-time employees and countless daily laborers work on his farm. He’s also trained over 150 people, including women and young farmers, helping them build skills for a better future. His hard work is paying off, with annual revenue hitting between 1,500,000 – 2,000,000 FCFA.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Boosted Maliki Sankaré’s Dream

In 2021, Maliki received $2,500 in seed funding from the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF). This funding wasn’t just about money, it came with business training, mentorship, and a powerful network. His business is now making waves beyond Mali, collaborating with Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and even international organizations like the World Food Programme (WFP).

The Future: Tech-Driven Farming and Food Security

Maliki isn’t stopping at traditional farming. He’s integrating digital agriculture, using technology to track water and fertilizer usage for better yields. His dream? A sustainable, tech-powered farming system that feeds not just Mali, but Africa.

He believes that Africa’s land is full of untapped potential, and he’s calling on governments to invest more in agriculture. With the right support, he knows Africa can achieve food self-sufficiency.
