His real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, but earned the nickname “Don Jazzy” in secondary school. It perfectly fits him as he’s a big boy for life!

Don Jazzy, born on November 26, 1982, in Umuahia, Abia State. However, he’s originally from Delta State and grew up in Ajegunle, Lagos. He received formal education in Lagos but discovered his love for music early. According to his company’s website, he began drumming before he even turned 4. Can you believe that?

Well, it’s safe to say that musical runs in the family, as his dad had a background in music entrepreneurship. He was one of the pioneers who tirelessly worked to establish artist management and structures in Nigeria. Don Jazzy graduated from Federal Government College, Lagos. Moreover, he holds a degree in Business Management from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

He’s currently single and has three siblings: James Collins Enebeli, Joy Solano, and Charles Collins Enebeli. His brother, Charles Enebeli, is both a musician and a businessman.

As mentioned, Don Jazzy was already drumming at 4 and picked up the guitar at 12. He was also mastering other instruments early on. His uncle, recognizing his musical passion, invited him to London to drum for their local church. In London, he connected with like-minded artists like JJC, The 419 Squad, and D’banj, etc. To make ends meet, Don Jazzy worked as a security guard at McDonald’s. Quite a humble start! He learned production skills from Emeka Infiniti at O-Town record company, while awaiting the right opportunity.

When Jazzy returned to Nigeria with D’banj, his hunger for success in the music industry was fulfilled. They joined forces to create Mo’Hits records, and it quickly soared to success. Within two years, he had already completed two albums and was onto his third.

As the record label expanded, he brought on board other artists like D’Prince, Wande Coal, Dr SID, etc. Additionally, he collaborated with international artists such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Beyoncé.

He launched Mavin Records with one clear goal – to transform it into an African music production powerhouse. He succeeded. Mavin Records has garnered global acclaim and hubs Africa’s most gifted musicians. These artists boast awards, chart-topping singles, endorsements, and various accolades. The label showcases talents like Rema, Korede Bello, Majix, Di’ja, Ayra Starr, Jonny Drille, etc

As a savvy entrepreneur and a prominent figure in the music industry, he diversified his business ventures. He entered the oil sector alongside his younger brother, founding Mavin Energy Limited. It specializes in providing homes and businesses with a range of petroleum products including diesel, petrol, and cooking gas.

In 2017, he collaborated with Nigerian tech expert, Dele Odufuye, to introduce Flobyt Wifi. This service is available at various partnered locations in Lagos and enables Mavin music enthusiasts to stream their favorite songs.
