Faith Hosu: The Multidimensional Igbagbo Creator

Faith Hosu Semedeton did not wait for a diploma before she started building. She started with what she had: her skills, her knowledge, and a clear vision of the kind of entrepreneur she wanted to become.
Faith, popularly known as Igbagbo, is a 300-level Food Science and Technology student at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology in Ondo State. She is also the founder of IGBAGBO Foods, a growing spice brand that produces high-quality, clean, and naturally flavorful spices for homes and food businesses; as well as IGBAGBO’nHairs, a barbing business. Alongside her brands, she is also a content creator. Talk about three income streams and one determined student.
Turning Classroom Knowledge Into a Business
The idea for IGBAGBO Foods grew directly from what Faith was learning in school. As a Food Science student, she saw an opportunity to apply her knowledge practically. She noticed that many people wanted spices they could genuinely trust. Products that were clean, properly processed, and well packaged. However, they were not readily available. That gap became her starting point.
Beyond solving a market problem, starting the business was also a personal decision. Rather than waiting until after graduation to begin her career, Faith chose to start building immediately. That decision has given her practical experience, a source of income, and a head start that most of her peers are yet to take.
Igbagbo and Juggling Everything at Once
Balancing academics and business is Faith’s biggest challenge. On any given day, she could have lectures, practicals, customer orders, content to create, and business planning all demanding her attention at the same time. Limited capital adds another layer of pressure. Sometimes she has ideas she is ready to execute but has to wait until the resources catch up.
Her response to all of it has been intentional. She plans ahead, prioritizes wisely, and has accepted that business growth takes time. Patience and consistency, she says, have become her most reliable tools.
The Moment She Knew It Was Working
The turning point came quietly. When people outside her family and friend circle started buying her products, and then coming back to order again, something shifted. Their trust told her she was not just selling spices. She was building a brand that people genuinely believed in.
That realization, paired with the understanding that perfection is never a requirement for starting, has shaped how she approaches everything. Action, she now knows, will always beat waiting.
Her advice to fellow students is simple: start with what you have, stay consistent, and focus on creating real value. The results, she insists, will come with time. This is what has been helping her build the Igbagbo brand identity.
