Arjun Vad has been building things for years, and what he learned from it surprised him.

The young builder is a 20-year-old computational mathematics student at University of California, Los Angeles. He is the co-founder of Agencity, a company that helps new technology companies enter markets like India. He says his earlier ventures taught him one lesson again and again: building technology keeps getting easier, but getting people to adopt it does not.

Starting Small

Agencity did not begin as a big company. Its first version was a simple platform that connected students with jobs at startups. According to Arjun, it reached about 7,000 users and 4 million organic impressions without any paid marketing.

Building that audience taught him how to attract people and match them with real opportunities. That experience shaped what Agencity has become today.

How Arjun Learned by Doing

Before Agencity, Arjun worked on robotics, language-model research, and an initiative called Crowdflo. He says it gave about 5,000 Indian students access to educational and extracurricular opportunities. He also joined the founding team of a startup and co-founded a healthtech company.

Each project showed him the same thing. A good product can still fail if nobody helps it reach the right customers. Therefore, he and his co-founder, Amitesh Das, built Agencity to solve that problem. They started the company in India in September 2025. Today, it works with operators in cities including Lagos, Dubai, and Bangalore.

How Arjun Turned  Age Into an Advantage

Many young founders feel their age holds them back. Arjun sees it differently. “Being young has been an advantage rather than an obstacle, because I carry no inherited assumptions about how things are supposed to be done,” he says.

He believes that people judge founders by what they deliver, not by how old they are.

His story offers a simple lesson for student entrepreneurs. Start small, learn from every project, and focus on helping real people use what you build.
