Oluwatobi Adigun January 28, 2025 0In today’s world, where creativity shines as a guiding light, a few individuals stand out for their brilliance. Among them is Giwa Babatunde David, better known as Crayvelli (24K). Renowned for his expertise in DJing, designing, and art direction, Crayvelli has seamlessly woven these talents into a career that leaves a lasting impact. His versatility across disciplines has earned him a place as a pioneering maestro, crafting a unique and inspiring story.
From Childhood Dreams to Creative Achievements
As a child, Crayvelli dreamed of becoming an inventor or scientist. His surroundings, however, nurtured his innate creativity, pushing him to explore various forms of self-expression. For instance, he built his versions of objects he admired, such as basketball nets, toy cars, helicopters, and storybooks. By the age of 14, he discovered graphic design, using Microsoft Paint on a teacher’s laptop to bring his ideas to life. These formative experiences, therefore, served as a springboard for his artistic evolution.
Moreover, exposure to diverse influences such as art workshops, the vibrant music of barbershops, and guidance from his landlord’s DJ son further shaped his passions. By the time he turned 15, Crayvelli had developed a knack for DJing, a skill he later refined and perfected when he turned professional in 2021. Not only did his environment inspire him, but his ability to blend personal experiences, nostalgia, and pop culture into his work also made his creations deeply engaging and relatable.
A Thoughtful Approach to Creativity
In addition to his artistic flair, Crayvelli employs a deliberate and structured creative process. He begins with in-depth research, followed by sketching or moodboarding, and then moves to execution. His dedication to research ensures that each project is innovative and meaningful. For example, when creating music, he uses tools like Serato DJ Pro, Audacity, and FL Studio. Similarly, on the design front, he employs industry-leading software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Blender3D, and Procreate, showcasing his technical mastery and adaptability.
TRIAD: More Than a Fashion Brand
In 2024, Crayvelli took a bold step by launching TRIAD, a fashion brand deeply rooted in youth culture. To him, TRIAD isn’t just about fashion—it represents a creative community driven by collaboration and storytelling. Consequently, the brand exemplifies his vision of fostering spaces where young artists can thrive and innovate.
Facing Challenges with Resilience
Although the journey hasn’t been without hurdles, Crayvelli’s determination and resourcefulness have helped him overcome obstacles. For instance, his belief in stepping out of his comfort zone has enabled him to push boundaries and continuously improve. Additionally, he has developed a unique approach to problem-solving, rooted in perseverance and creativity.
Remarkable Accomplishments and Partnerships
In a short span, Crayvelli has achieved incredible milestones. For instance, he created logos for Zlatan, directed art for Ilona’s Homeless album, and composed music for fashion shows and Boiler Room events with Bloody Civilian. Moreover, he collaborated with prominent artists and brands like Victony, Minz, Psychoyp, and Thirsty Brand. Notably, he designed Davido’s Timeless album merchandise and has been the resident DJ for Nigeria’s Block Party music festival for three consecutive years.
Inspirations and Future Aspirations
Crayvelli draws inspiration from icons like Skepta, Virgil Abloh, Pharrell Williams, ASAP Rocky, and Niyi Okeowo, all of whom excel across multiple creative fields. Furthermore, his mantra, “Just be yourself,” underscores his dedication to authenticity.
Looking ahead, Crayvelli plans to expand his collaborations, push creative boundaries, and build a community that inspires the next generation. Ultimately, with his passion and innovative spirit, he is set to continue redefining creativity across industries.
