There&#8217;s got to be a better way!&#8221; That&#8217;s our hero, Odunayo Eweniyi, and boy, did she have some tricks up her sleeve!<\/p>\n<h2>The Origin Story (Because Every Superhero Needs One)&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>Back in the day, while other fresh graduates were sending out resumes, Odunayo Eweniyi was cooking up something special with her partners-in-crime (the legal kind!), Somto Ifezue and Joshua Chibueze. They weren&#8217;t trying to save the world &#8211; just Nigerians&#8217; wallets, one naira at a time!<\/p>\n<h2>Enter: The Piggy Revolution!&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>In 2016, they launched Piggybank (spoiler alert: it later became the cooler-sounding PiggyVest). But this wasn&#8217;t your grandmother&#8217;s ceramic piggy bank &#8211; oh no! This&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thestudententrepreneur.org\/?p=7865\" target=\"_blank\">was<\/a>&nbsp;a digital savings superhero that would:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Automatically snatch your money from your account (with permission, of course!)<\/li>\n<li>Lock it up tight (because sometimes we&#8217;re our own worst enemies when it comes to spending)<\/li>\n<li>Help you resist the temptation to &#8220;just check&#8221; your savings (looking at you, chronic shoppers!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>From Piggybank to PiggyVest: The Glow-Up&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>Like any good superhero movie, there had to be a transformation scene. In 2019, Piggybank said &#8220;New phone, who dis?&#8221; and emerged as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/odun_eweniyi\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">PiggyVest<\/a>. But this wasn&#8217;t just a fancy new name &#8211; our hero was now offering investment opportunities that didn&#8217;t require you to be a millionaire to start!<\/p>\n<p>Two million users later (that&#8217;s more than the population of some countries!), PiggyVest has helped Nigerians save billions of naira. That&#8217;s a billion with a B, folks!<\/p>\n<h2>Plot Twist: The Challenges!&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, every great story needs some drama. Odunayo Eweniyi faced:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Skeptics who said &#8220;An online savings platform? In this economy?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Regulatory hurdles that made Olympic hurdles look like speed bumps<\/li>\n<li>The challenge of convincing Nigerians to trust an online platform (because we&#8217;ve all gotten those emails from &#8220;princes&#8221;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But did our hero back down? NOPE! She pulled through like a boss!<\/p>\n<h2>Beyond the Bank&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>When she&#8217;s not helping people save money, Odunayo is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collecting awards like they&#8217;re Pokemon (including that sweet Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 spot)<\/li>\n<li>Fighting for women&#8217;s rights with the Feminist Coalition<\/li>\n<li>Inspiring young people to chase their tech dreams<\/li>\n<li>being an all-around superhero!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What&#8217;s Next for Our Hero?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>PiggyVest isn&#8217;t just stopping at Nigeria &#8211; they&#8217;re planning to take over Africa! (In a good way, of course.) More investment products, financial education, and people learning to save money like pros!<\/p>\n<h2>The Moral of the Story&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>Who says changing the world can&#8217;t be fun? Odunayo Eweniyi took something as boring as saving money and turned it into a financial revolution!
