OpenAI unveils the future of ChatGPT with GPT-4 Turbo.<\/p>\n

During its recent developer conference, AI made several groundbreaking announcements regarding new features. Especially for ChatGPT <\/a>and other artificial intelligence tools. Among the key revelations were the introduction of a creator tool for chatbots, named GPTs (short for generative pre trained transformers). Likewise, the unveiling of a new model for ChatGPT referred to as GPT-4 Turbo.<\/p>\n

Empowering Developers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Moreover, OpenAI had previously upgraded ChatGPT from GPT-3.5 to GPT-4 earlier this year, marking a recurrent trend in model advancements. The GPT-4 Turbo version of the chatbot is anticipated to launch later this year, with an initial rollout to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Majorly, before becoming available to the general public.<\/p>\n

Despite WIRED’s request for early access being declined by OpenAI, expectations for GPT-4 Turbo include notable improvements. The perpetual reminder about ChatGPT’s information cutoff date being restricted to September 2021 is expected to be eliminated. According to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, GPT-4 Turbo will have information updated, allowing for responses with more current context.<\/p>\n

One significant enhancement is the increased allowance for input length. Altman revealed that GPT-4 Turbo can support up to 128,000 tokens of context, encouraging users to provide super long and detailed prompts. This expanded capacity is especially beneficial for those seeking to analyze extensive documents and receive detailed summaries from the chatbot.<\/p>\n

Affordable Pricing and Extended Input Limits<\/strong><\/h3>\n

OpenAI has emphasized that GPT-4 Turbo excels at following instructions more diligently. The new model performs better on tasks requiring careful adherence to specific formats, such as responding in XML. However, this feature is particularly advantageous for users who engage the chatbot for assistance in writing code.<\/p>\n

Addressing concerns about the cost of using OpenAI’s API, Altman announced a more affordable pricing structure for developers. GPT-4 Turbo is set to cost one cent for a thousand prompt tokens and three cents for a thousand completion tokens. This will potentially be reducing the financial burden on developers.<\/p>\n

Another noteworthy change is the elimination of the GPT-4 dropdown menu, familiar to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. This menu allowed users to select specific chatbot tools, such as Dall-E 3 beta for AI-generated images or the Browse with Bing version for internet links. However, based on user feedback, OpenAI <\/a>has decided to replace the model picker with an updated chatbot.
