In the vibrant landscape of Nigerian entrepreneurship, Babajide Ipaye stands out as a visionary with an unwavering passion for sneakers. A true sneaker fanatic, Ipaye embarked on a remarkable journey to combine his love for shoes with a larger goal. Likewise to establish a robust manufacturing sector for quality footwear within Nigeria. Hence the result. Keexs is an African-inspired brand with a distinctive social mission.<\/p>

The Visionary Journey:<\/strong> Unraveling Babajide Ipaye’s Path to Keexs<\/h3>

Ipaye’s journey began with a pivotal experience while studying innovative shoe production in the Netherlands. Apparently, It was there that the seeds of Keexs were sown, and the brand’s unique style took shape. As he fondly recalls, “We look at creating a style; a style basically is a unique pattern or design that has been created for the shoes. In this case, what we have started with is this style which I designed while I was studying in the Netherlands, and it formed like a canvas.”<\/p>

Moreover, while the sneakers are proudly designed in his office in Lagos, Nigeria, the production hub is in the Netherlands. Ipaye’s commitment to quality and innovation led him to raise $20,000 through crowd-funding. Primarily, a sum that fueled the production and launch of Keexs’ inaugural collection.<\/p>

The collection boasts seven different products, with the spotlight currently on five distinctive designs. Among them is the notable ‘Keexs Unity,’ a symbol of Africa coming together as one, depicted by an image of one finger and a fist. Ipaye’s creative prowess and the unique narrative embedded in each design have resonated with consumers. Available both online and in stores across Lagos, Keex sneakers are priced at a reasonable $59. Store manager Abimbola Oyatayo reflects on the brand’s reception. Additionally, it states, “Our customers are really appreciative of the brand because it\u2019s an African brand, you know, and there\u2019s nothing like it so far.” A sentiment echoed by a satisfied customer, Ogo Maduewesi, who remarks, “If you ask me to compare, it\u2019s fairly great for the sneakers I know. We don\u2019t have\u2026 I don\u2019t think we have any sneaker brand in Nigeria.”<\/p>\n

However, the success story of Keexs<\/a> unfolds against the backdrop of challenges faced by Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. Issues such as electricity shortages and the scarcity of raw materials, exacerbated by the shortage of US dollars, have hindered growth.<\/p>\n

Undeterred by these obstacles, Ipaye envisions a future where Keexs contributes significantly to Nigeria’s manufacturing landscape. With a goal to build a homegrown manufacturing industry for quality shoes<\/a>, he seeks to attract more investors to propel the expansion of his business.<\/p>\n
