Some businesses are born in boardrooms, some in classrooms, but one was born in a hostel at midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ayomide Precious Otusanya<\/a> is a student entrepreneur and the CEO of Bowl and Bite, a food business built specifically for students. As someone who naturally stays up late, Ayomide kept noticing the same thing on her hostel group chat: students asking where they could find food at night. She liked cooking, she was already awake, and the need was right in front of her. So she decided to do something about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solving a Problem Ayomide Lived Every Day<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The problem Bowl and Bite addresses is one every hostel student understands: hunger that does not respect lecture schedules or sleep hours. Late-night cravings, long study sessions, and the general unpredictability of student life create a constant demand for accessible and affordable food. Ayomide saw that demand, stepped in to meet it, and watched her sales grow quickly. The demand for food did not stay limited to late nights only. Orders started coming in during the day too, confirming that she had built something students genuinely needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Challenges of Running Bowl and Bite on Campus<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Growing the business has not been without friction. The rising cost of cooking gas has been one of her most pressing challenges. Multiple orders come in at once, and as a result, the expense adds up fast and cuts into her margins. Managing volume while keeping quality consistent is something she continues to navigate as the business grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moment She Knew It Was Working<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Ayomide\u2019s mindset shift came from two places: her account balance and her customer’s reviews. Seeing the money reflect the effort she was putting in was validating in one way. More importantly, reading students\u2019 feedback about how much they enjoyed her food reminded her that the business was about more than income. It was about genuinely satisfying a need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both motivations, she says, matter but the second one is what keeps the standard high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her Advice to other Students<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Ayomide\u2019s lessons from Bowl and Bite are practical and honest. No idea is too small or too simple to pursue<\/a>. She warns that laziness is one of the biggest enemies of a student entrepreneur. As such, progress only comes to those who show up and do the work consistently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, she makes an important distinction about motivation. Making money is a valid reason to start a business, but it should not be the only one. Serving people well, meeting a real need, and doing it with genuine care is what builds something worth keeping.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
