Abayomi Idris Muhammad did not come to the University of Lagos with a business plan. He came with a sense of style while UNILAG did the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhammed <\/a>is a 300-level Radiography student at UNILAG and the founder of Unsullied, a clothing brand built around a simple but distinct aesthetic: streetwear, done with class. Think bold and relaxed silhouettes, but polished enough to turn heads across generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea was never about solving a market problem. It was personal. Muhammed has always loved good clothes and has always been intentional about how he presents himself. When he gained admission in 2023, he recognised that UNILAG was a campus full of fashion-conscious students. That environment pushed him to stop keeping his style to himself and start building something around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Fashion Style That Transcends Generations <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

One early sign that Unsullied was onto something came from an unlikely audience. Muhammed has uncles in their late fifties and sixties, men who would ordinarily have little patience for streetwear. Yet they loved what he was creating. The fact that his designs could resonate across such a wide age gap told him he was doing something right. Streetwear with class, it turns out, speaks a universal language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Challenges of Building Between Lectures<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Running a clothing brand as a student comes with real pressure points. The biggest one for Muhammed is managing orders during busy academic periods. When assignments, tests, and exams pile up, he cannot always fulfil orders on time. His approach is honest and direct: he calls his customers, explains his situation, and asks for patience. So far, they have been understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quieter side of the challenge is the dry spells. There are months when no orders come in at all, and sitting through that silence tests any entrepreneur\u2019s resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhammed and Playing It Smart With Stock<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

One of the sharpest lessons Unsullied has taught Muhammed is risk control<\/a>. He does not produce clothing in advance or stock up on sizes he might never sell. Instead, he only begins preparing a piece once a customer places an order. It is a simple but effective system that keeps his losses low and his inventory lean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Muhammed, entrepreneurship has been less about chasing profit and more about expressing identity, and building something that reflects who he is, one piece at a time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
