When it comes to getting your nails done, it is rarely just about the design. For 24-year-old business and marketing major Alyssa Parker<\/a>, true artistry begins with exceptional care. From her dining room-turned-nail spa in Hawthorne, Parker painstakingly polishes her clients’ nails, transforming them into eye-catching art over the course of a few hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turning Passion into Substance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Building her brand, A List Nailz, did not happen in a magic snap of her fingers; it required immense time and patience. Parker launched the venture fresh out of El Segundo High School in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA lot was going on in the world, and I felt like I wanted to do something with substance,\u201d Parker recalled. \u201cSomething that I can contribute to this world, and nails were the first thing I thought of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her dedication grew from a personal childhood habit. As a 12-year-old sitting in the corner of a Hawthorne nail salon, Parker frequently fought the urge to bite her nails. To curb the habit, her mother got her acrylic sets, unwittingly introducing her to a lifelong passion. Looking back, it wasn’t just the vibrant patterns that captivated her, but the work ethic of the technicians. \u201cIt was just admiring the workers and how hard they had to work to get something out of nothing,\u201d Parker explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That early curiosity fueled late-night practice sessions in her family’s dining room, sometimes lasting until 3 a.m. Armed with unwavering maternal support and deep personal motivation, Parker sharpened her skills by creating intricate art for her friends. \u201cSeeing the satisfaction and the happiness of my friends… fueled me to keep going,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Luxury of One-on-One Attention<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Today, that persistent hustle has evolved into a highly professional, trusted business ecosystem. A List Nailz offers a curated concierge experience complete with complimentary beverages and snacks, with prices ranging from a $40 manicure to a $65 hard gel set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By leveraging strategic content on Instagram and TikTok, Parker has scaled her brand to collaborate with major corporate giants like Nike and OPI, while also catering to private events and birthday parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite her growing reach, the heart of her business model remains deeply personal. Longtime client Jennifer Donnell, 53, follows Parker specifically for this tailored environment. \u201cIt\u2019s very private, it\u2019s very personal,” Donnell noted. “She\u2019s not starting and stopping and doing anything else. It is one-on-one. You have her full attention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This flexibility and specialized focus represent the best parts of the modern beauty economy. According to Fred Jones, legal counsel and advocate for the Professional Beauty Federation, the industry offers unique lifestyle advantages. \u201cThe beauty industry allows them to balance their professional and personal life,” Jones stated, adding that time management and freedom are incredibly attractive elements for young creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Blueprint for Future Expansion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Even with an active, loyal client base, Parker<\/a> refuses to remain stagnant. She returned to school to study business and marketing to ensure she can navigate the commercial landscape with complete confidence. “I want to learn how to run a business,” Parker emphasized. “So I can be able to come out to the world freely and calmly. So I can put in the footwork.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Parker has two distinct visions for expanding A List Nailz into a larger wellness lounge. Her primary goal is to secure a medical nail license to operate a specialized medical nail spa alongside a podiatrist, focusing strictly on advanced care for athletes, diabetics, and the elderly. \u201cWe are focusing on growing people\u2019s nails. Changing people\u2019s nail lives,\u201d Parker shared. Her secondary vision involves launching an innovative nail lounge featuring private study and meeting spaces where students can relax or complete homework while waiting for their one-on-one sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though managing expectations occasionally brings moments of doubt, Parker relies on her established system of consistency to keep moving forward, proving that true entrepreneurial success is built one client at a time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
