While many students focus only on lectures and exams, Alexei Abiiaka is building a startup that is solving real-world problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourth-year nanotechnology engineering student at the University of Waterloo is the founder of iNano IoT Corp, a software company he started while still in school. His goal is simple: to create useful, affordable technology for people and organizations that need it most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Abiiaka Turned an Idea into a Startup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Abiiaka\u2019s journey into tech started early<\/a>. While still in high school, he began developing software ideas that would later grow into his startup. When he got to university, his engineering program exposed him to various areas, including electronics, lab work, and device development. This experience helped him think more creatively about how technology can solve problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, he continued building his software platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Flexible Solution To A Real Problem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

His company, iNano IoT Corp, developed a system that allows users to create their own software without needing to code. This flexibility means the software can be used in different industries. However, instead of trying to serve everyone at once, Abiiaka chose to focus on a specific group. Animal shelters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His decision came from experience. For years, he worked closely with an animal shelter and saw firsthand the challenges they faced. Many shelters, he discovered, were paying high prices for poor-quality software that didn\u2019t meet their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through his startup, he now provides affordable, reliable software that helps shelters manage important tasks. These tasks include keeping track of animals, medical records, and adoptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building While Studying<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Like many student entrepreneurs, Abiiaka had to balance building a business with schoolwork. He chose to start early and not wait until graduation. That decision has already opened doors for him. His startup is now gaining attention, including interest from major organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After graduation, Abiiaka plans to expand his work, including a potential partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abiiaka believes his startup is not just about building technology, but is about making a difference. His work is driven by a desire to help overlooked communities and create solutions that truly matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
